2 awesome tools for capitalists that use the internet

I've discovered 2 awesome tools for capitalists that use the Internet recently, and I wanted to share them with you.

The first is a Google Chrome extension called 'The invisible hand'.  From the description:

"InvisibleHand discreetly notifies you if the product you’re browsing is available more cheaply from another retailer. The notification provides a convenient link straight to the relevant product page on the competing retailer’s website.

InvisibleHand supports over 100 retailers in US, UK and Germany. Support for Canadian retailers is coming soon.

This money saving extension gets its name from the 18th century economist Adam Smith's concept of the invisible hand of the market. Smith didn't have Google Chrome to help prove his point, but we hope he would approve."

The 2nd awesome tool is another Google Chrome extension called 'The Camelizer' (no explanation for the name).  From the description:

"The primary feature of The Camelizer is to provide graphs of price changes over time of products on the aforementioned websites. The chart loads when you view a product, appears on top of the page and is toggle-able (so it doesn't get in your way)."

Yep, it's pretty complicated

Intrigued by this reference to 'Primer': http://xkcd.com/657/large/ My wife and I watched the movie this past weekend.  I can now officially say "I get the reference".  No, you don't really need to watch the movie to get the reference.  It's pretty complicated.

And rather pointless.

But I can say I've watched it now.

Halloween 2009

Here are the Halloween pics of the family for Halloween 2009.  We all decided to be something a bit ... ghoulish ... this year.

Tail end of the Grand Canyon trip

I almost forgot I took these!  These include the tail end of our Grand Canyon Trip, including the trip home -- which included seeing the Delorian from Back to the Future (or a VERY detailed replica) in a parking lot in Casa Grande!

Can you stick out your tongue and touch your nose?

My daughter is such a smarty-pants.  She got me with this question yesterday and proceeded to giggle at me when she provided her answer

My aching legs

Well, yesterday we went to Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon and the Desert View Watchtower, and man do my legs ache!  Today Charity, Natalie and my parents are hiking into the Grand Canyon to Plateau point, and Katie and I are hanging out near the south rim.  Our hotel is in a little town that I had never heard of:  Tusyan.

Finally! A day without 100 degrees.

My family and I have a weather station posted by the front door to our apartment. It has become a morning ritual to go see what the high and low will be for the day and the coming week. For the last few weeks months this morning ritual has also included moaning about how hot it was and "when is it going to get cooler?!" (and "when are we going to Disneyland?!")

Well lo and behold, it's October 1, and for the first day in as long as I can remember, it's not going to be 100+ degrees today here in the land of a thousand suns.  (AKA Phoenix)

100 degrees is just too many degrees.

I have fond memories of living in Issaquah, WA and driving down streets like the one shown above right around this time of year.   The air is much cooler in the Seattle area -- compared to Arizona -- this time of year.

I don't remember why we moved, but I must have been exceptionally slow-witted back then. Why would I ever want to leave that?

San Dimas High School Football Rules

So the family and I have been working our butts off for the last 35 months trying to get out of debt.  Last week, we finished baby step two of our financial plan (spoiler alert: we got out of debt).  This means we're now on 'step 3':  saving up our full emergency fund.

"Dan and family:  Now that you've killed the bad guy and made the world safe for democracy, what are you going to do to cash in on your newfound fame?"

I know.  My family knows.  We've been talking about it forever.

We're going to Disneyland!

My 10 year old daughter made this pancake this morning as she made breakfast for herself and her sister.  (I think my kids are a little excited about what comes next)

Internet is down

The only way I'm sending this is through my doctor's wifi this morning. It's kind of strange how feeble my mind feels when I don't have a google reader fix in the morning (or when I don't have direct access to my task list for my morning review).
